Incoming today, but did Casio get it slightly wrong with the new GW-5000HS-1 and 7?

I always felt that my old GW-5000 was let down by its display. Just not sharp enough to match the quality. Gave the U a miss because I ended up with a GMW-B5000 TVA. Ultimately it (and a lot of other watches) were moved on and then life got in way.

So my first post in a couple of years is about today’s two arrivals from Casio UK. Full disclosure, I’d had a few beers when I read the email from G-Shock to say these were now available in the UK. Of course I had to have a look and this…

Would this be a cute stunt or a clanging faux pas?

So I have this minty-fresh 1st-gen Casio I’m thinking of moving on, an 03-506 in lovely nick, just a handful of very fine scratches which I presume is just shop wear, given no fading of the red and the fact I only received the bare watch; box and manual lost in the mists of time somewhere in the last half-century… I suppose at one point it wouldn’t have been worth much.

So given that, plus the fact I really don’t have any enthusiasm for chasing down an original box and tag and all that…

Not all G-Shocks created equal

We all seen videos of how brave people run their Casio watches over by truck, drop from helicopter etc.
I also seen bunch of totally destroyed G-Shocks which kind of counter ethos of 10m drop thing.
