Silicone spray on rubber and resin straps?

I’ve studied and read a lot about the care of steel bracelets. I want to take a similar approach with the resin bands on my Casio watches. While I agree that a simple rinse with tap water and drying with a towel will increase the longevity of the resin, I want to take it a step further.

After reading various threads in this forum, a member (Lawrie) mentioned more than once that Silicone is a good preservative of rubber. I can’t seem to locate any water-based “pure silicone” here in the UK…

Opening GW-5000U case & speck of dust

I have been wearing my GW-5000u my go to watch and literally no need for another. However Im really nitpicky and stupidly OCD especially after coffee and noticed that my unit got tiny speck of dust just front of led light. How to minimize new dust If I decide to open caseback and does opening case risk water resistance? Watch is maybe 4 years old now.

Nice little vintage Casio W-780 back to life🙂

I won this for just over £25 a few days ago, and got it through yesterday. Sold as not working but I was sure it would be ok.

I like these old, all stainless steel Casio’s, they have a bit of character about them.

These have the 549 module, which has dual time and REM like the 901/691’s did in the 5600C’s/5300’s and probably other vintage Casio’s as well.

So with a few photos, here’s the story from yesterday and this morning:

1. Arrival shots, the crystal and case have marks/scratches…
