This set up is for music only, it sounds great to me but I’m looking for the next potential upgrade.
The 5010s are wonderful and are a bargain imo. The Sony amp is 20 years old and was given to me by a mate a while back, it may be a Home Cinema amp but my mate swore by it for Stereo too, and it sounds good to me in this set up.
I’m already looking to upgrade the Pioneer Sub, I’m just using it at a low level to add a bit of depth but I it will be replaced with something with a little more finesse soon.
Other than the Sub, I’m thinking the bluetooth source is probably the week link in the chain. I’m looking into streaming options and the Wiim Ultra really appeals for it’s look / screen and tech.
Can I expect that the Ultra will provide a decent upgrade in sound quality in my current set up though, or is mainly a tech upgrade? If I was looking purely for a sound quality upgrade would I be better putting that money in to a used amplifier upgrade instead and a cheaper streaming option, and if so which amps should I be considering around £350 used?
I know the Wiim Amp is another option to combine the 2 but I’m not convinced it would be a sound quality upgrade versus my current amp and it would also be a bit of a dead end future upgrade wise.
