Is there any way to find out what the MSRP of a Rolex reference would have been in a specific year?

I'm just curious what it would have cost to walk into a store and buy a 16610 submariner in 1995 or 2005 and how much that would have been relative to the average person's income. I know even in 1995 Rolexes were very expensive but I'm guessing relatively less expensive then than they are now.

I've tried googling it and cannot find any kind of accurate information about this.
