Longines has a long and storied history and when you look at it against a brand like Omega, I think its fair to say they are comparable in terms of their innovations and achievements. So, it seems like a loss to the WIS community that in a series of mergers and acquisitions throughout the 1970s and 1980s, the Swatch Group basically stripped them of their manufacturing and research capability and positioned them as a brand hard-stuck a tier or two below Omega.

In a just world, Longines would be the equivalent of Omega. Discuss.
