It seems to me that watches (in my experience) never get water intrusion before they actually need a full service anyway. Once water proof then always water proof unless the watch is opened and improperly sealed back up.

As such I hate watches with batteries as I feel they are at risk once open for the replacement. For a great many decades I have never had a watch get water inside before it needed service for some other reason as it stopped keeping good time. Ten years or more in most…
