Looking for a solid gold dress watch with mechanical movement. Am I in over my head?

I understand that the vintage market can be a minefield. I have only dabbled with vintage watches in the past but they are definitely not my expertise.

I have always wanted a solid gold dress watch but I am on a brass budget (< $1,000). Instead of a SS dress watch, I was thinking vintage like a Hamilton with 982 movement or something else perhaps?

I guess my other option would be a Tissot Goldrun used in quartz. A modern production.

Any opinions or suggestions?
