My AD says the weird look is a faded dial instead of a gummed up crystal. I'm not 100% sure, but an exact replacement of my dial is about $500. But if I'm changing it, perhaps something totally different ?
I'm pretty sure that if they let me get something different, it would only be something originally available on the 18038, but I did not ask when I was there earlier today.
Google searches showed the same Rolex forum post answering this question, but it was merely a JPG of what looks…
