Integrated Bracelets – Why?

I'll ask this separate here to not hijack the ongoing discussion about specific models.

I don't understand the appeal or need for integrated bracelets. When I see a watch labeled thus I have to look carefully at the pictures to see what it means. It really doesn't seem to be a relevant thing to my eye. Why do people like them and seek them out? It looks to me like a way to lock you into one watchband without giving you anything in return.

Educate me.
