I thought this might be straightforward – some chance!
Our 1930s semi in Barnet has front garden about 8 m long sloping from the pavement to the front of the house. To construct a hard standing one needs a dropped curb out front called a crossover. Paid over £250 for some chap to eventually come out and mark up the proposed crossover and later I was told that the Virgin Media catv plate under the crossover (just our luck) may need strengthening so contact them with the link Barnet gave me. Another £240 for a survey, the result of which they need to replace the footway box + cover plate with a roadworthy version. £5025.
So sent all this info to the Barnet crossover team for approval saying I’ll pay up for Virgin to do their job and can I move forward.
Their reply today quote: “The crossover is fine we would suggest you contact planning for the construction of the hard standing due the levels may be required “
Go figure what that means! TBC…
