2024 ins and outs and SOTC

TZ-UK Forums TZ-UK Forums gerrudd

It may be a day too early to start this thread but here goes. While I didn’t join the abstinence group my plan in January was to keep what I had. Well that failed. My tastes are still military and mid century and I don’t seem to be a big fan of complications. I thought I would never move the Omega Dynamic along, but I really wanted a military style Omega diver and the 2254 scratched the Def Stan itch. I’ve moved along a fair few G10s but I seem to have bonded with the Fatboy. I’ve almost sold the Longines a few times, but then I put it on, wind it and know it’s a keeper.

I’m not sure what 2025 will bring. My better angel says be happy with what you have. I’d still have a hankering for an IWC Mark XV (after seeing the lovely one FrontierGibberish found) or maybe a Glycine Airman. I’m always tempted by a CWC diver. I’ve had a log term interest in an Rolex Explorer with a older Air King as a close second. Having owned two Grand Seiko’s I’d be tempted by a third, potentially a GMT.

My other watches aren’t going anywhere. My son alternates between the Casio ‘Royale’ and my old kinetic. My wife wear the Timex Snoopy. And if the Casio MQ24 is good enough for the Pope, who am I not to wear it occasionally.
