Seems like a decent part of what makes a G-Shock among the tougher watches on the planet is the outer polymer shroud, which protects the actual case.
So… no-brainer, if we're talking tough watches, to produce a mechanical watch with a similar protection system. There's already the Mühle-Glashütte SAR models with the rubber bezel. It would not at all surprise me if someome popped up with some obscure brand/model who did something like a full-surround protective shroud – closest I can think…
