After reading the thread on canteen crowns, here is another unusual crown mechanism. The Hamilton Field H624550 has an unusual assemblage of springy arms that are unique as far as I know. In thinking about the reasoning behind such an unusual arrangement, the only answer appears to be that the crown is held in position by this method which creates both a positive lock with screw down threads providing downward on the crown tube and the springy arms providing outward pressure on the crown…
