Thoughts on this vintage Omega?

Hi. I recently inherited this vintage 14K Gold watch. The crown is missing so it would obviously need to be repaired and serviced. The guy at the watch store told me that I should sell it for melt value because the band is a "lost art" and no one would be able to re-size it (it is currently very small). I'd hate to destroy it if there's someone out there who would enjoy it. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts.
