Picked up my first Rolex today.

Hey guys,

I picked up my first Rolex today. It’s a (very) early 40th birthday gift to myself. I was inspired by the photos @Lucky_Craft posted on his recently acquired OP: https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/the-unexpected-call-my-first-rolex.5620696/

A sunburst blue dial was on my list. I was not sure if I wanted to get another Omega Aqua Terra or IWC Mark XX or venture to Zenith. Rolex has never been on my radar because I did not want to play the game…

METAS vs non-METAS Tudor movements: Any technical hardware differences to deliver enhanced accuracy — or just higher levels of adjustment/testing

I’m curious if the newer Tudor METAS-certified movements have any different/added technical components which enable enhanced accuracy versus earlier non-METAS-certfied movements. Or these new METAS-certified movements simply tested and regulated to higher standards — and are otherwise essentially the same as the earlier non-METAS certified movements?

Here’s a specific example: The Tudor Black Bay Pro has the COSC certified MT5652. And the Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT has the MT5450-U which is…

DJ36 dilemma

Have had my heart set on a Silver dial DJ36 with a fluted bezel and jubilee strap.

This is my dilemma, the more I’m seeing of the TT YG champagne dial (also fluted and jubilee) the more I’m leaning in that direction.

I currently own a black BB58, Blue Omega Seamaster and a 60’s Seamaster.

I want this watch to be my go to for formal events but would also like to wear it to work and casually in rotation with my collection.

Would I be limiting myself with the TT champagne on what I could…

16018 Datejust gold bracelet stretch repair help and vintage all gold 18k link source?

I picked up a 16018 all gold Datejust, and I absolutely love I but it’s been needing a bit of TLC. The bracelet’s got some stretch, and I’m looking to buy one additional 18k link. For reference, it’s the older, folded hollow link style (not the solid ones they use now).

I’ve already reached out to Rolliworks for the stretch repair, but I was wondering if anyone here has recommendations for other places in the US that do top-notch bracelet work as well?

Also, I’m on the hunt for a used 18k…

Tudor Pelagos Ultra

The more I compare it to the previous 42mm, the more I like it.
Love the new dial, mono block indices, bigger hands, bezel edge and crown.
Master chronometer movement.
Size (43 mm) is not an issue. I wear SD43 daily.
They used both Grade 5 and Grade 2 titanium on the case (whatever that means). Maybe the case back is 2 and rest of the case is 5? I hope bracelet is G5, but I couldn’t find any info on their website.

Recommendations for Rolex AD’s in Southern CA?

Hi all,

I am turning 40 this year and using this as an excuse to inquire on my first Rolex. I am eyeing a blue OP in either 36 or 41.

I would appreciate if anyone can suggest AD’s in Southern California they’ve had good experience with.

I can visit them all and asked to be put on the list and hope for the best, but figured to ask for input here first.

Thanks!

edit: went to run errands at Fashion Island and stopped by the AD here. My first time visiting and it was a good experience. The…
