Article’s in Monochrome, yesterday. They do cover the 1 and 5 SPY Citizens from time to time…but not all that often.

Pink Duratect to go along with the soft pink tones on the washi paper. Pretty Japanese, to be sure. This one’s designated the AQ4106-00A…similar to the other Duratect pink, the 4106-00W, but that one has the brown paper dial. I prefer the contrast the brown offers.

OCXO timekeeping

An oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) is said to be chronometrically superior to a thermocompensated XO (TCXO) such as those we have in our HAQ watches.

I gather it is because the ‘oven’ maintains the XO in its turnover temperature, where the T…

Breitling B-1 – movement B68 (ETA E20.331)

The Breitling B-1, launched around 1998, has had three variants as per the table below (not mine, taken from another website).

The movement was originally the B68 (ETA E20.331) which was then replaced by B78 (ETA E20.341).

B78 / ETA E20.341 is a known TC movement, and so eligible for and meets the COSC spec, and is a potential HAQ candidate.

OT: World’s most accurate clock – yours for $3.3m

Notable enough to have featured on a news bulletin on the radio this afternoon.

Japanese firm Shimadzu Corp. has put the “Aether clock OC 020” on sale for $3.3m. Apparently accurate to one second every 10 billions years. It’s 100 times more accurate than caesium atomic clocks.

They’re aiming for 10 sales over the next 3 years.

Which Tissot are HAQ?

It looks like Tissot, at least at one point, offered a COSC certified quartz watch. Their website when listing their quartz watches just seems to show “Swiss quartz” and doesn’t say much more about the movement. Is the Gentleman Sport COSC certified? Or did they drop the HAQ thing?

HAQ?

I have a Bulova JetStar and a Certina DS-2 Precidrive chronograph and they both keep time to with 1s between going in/out of Daylight Savings Time (the stupidest idea ever). Anyway, I was wondering if either of these watches are considered "HAQ&q…

Thermocompensated chronograph function in a HAQ

One of my earliest posts to this forum asked, “Is chronograph of a HAQ necessarily also HAQ?”

@gaijin replied that his X-33’s MET (mission elapsed timer) had not varied from the timekeeping of the watch for over 900 days.

@Tom-HK said, “Given that we assume a count correction application after a particular inhibition period, as being the TC method that ETA uses, I cannot…
