Silicone spray on rubber and resin straps?

I’ve studied and read a lot about the care of steel bracelets. I want to take a similar approach with the resin bands on my Casio watches. While I agree that a simple rinse with tap water and drying with a towel will increase the longevity of the resin, I want to take it a step further.

After reading various threads in this forum, a member (Lawrie) mentioned more than once that Silicone is a good preservative of rubber. I can’t seem to locate any water-based “pure silicone” here in the UK…

Casio 55QS-24 lug repair

I’d picked up this 55QS a few months ago. It was a great price but two of the lugs had been badly damaged. This case has a resin core and a steel top and back. It seemed like the bracelet, which I don’t have, was twisted and the lugs broke out. I can only speculate but if someone had installed the bracelet with single shoulder spring bars than they could not have removed it with a typical spring bar tool and may have resorted to breaking the case to remove it.

Opening GW-5000U case & speck of dust

I have been wearing my GW-5000u my go to watch and literally no need for another. However Im really nitpicky and stupidly OCD especially after coffee and noticed that my unit got tiny speck of dust just front of led light. While It Isn’t visible until I turn light on and look for it and It makes little shadow on display too that Isn’t really visible.

How to minimize new dust If I decide to open caseback and does opening case risk water resistance? Watch is maybe 4 years old now.
