Have been looking at a car (mid 70s V8) which has switchable LPG fitted. On one level this is good, namely 30mpg rather than 10mpg, but on lots of others it’s bad. Resale value thanks to non-original is one, but the fact that the spare wheel now lives in the boot (LPG tank is where the spare used to be) means naff all luggage space which is silly in this kind of car (big saloon).
Latest round of negotiations are an offer of a price reduction and the removal of the LPG system, which is tempting, but my knowledge of LPG is minimal. There’s no ECU obvs, but when fitted don’t these systems require some drilling of the head? Anyone able to advise on how simple/not simple removal of the system is and what I should insist on if I go ahead with it?
