I have a watch that I love (a Grand Seiko) and I would like for it to stay waterproof for as long as possible. It is getting somewhat long in the tooth, and I know that after 30 years parts – especially gaskets – will become hard to find.
I have a few replacement gaskets, and I wondered if anyone has any ideas about how to store them so they will still be good as new in 30 years. Should I cover them in silicone grease? How do watchmakers store spare rare gaskets they want to preserve?
