Italy… Incoming

I have been in Europe on vacation for the last couple weeks. I have walked into a couple Rolex AD’s asking about the watches I’m after and getting the same old song and dance. (Which I can pretty much repeat word for word by now).

Anyway, go over Courmayeur, Italy for some skiing, and am walking through town on my first day with the wife, and see a Rolex Boutique and decide to walk in. They buzz us in and we chat up the SA, same song and dance, no men’s watches, however someone just backed out of a women’s watch would you like to see it? Yes, that would be nice.

He pulls out a 28mm, S.S., fluted bezel, white dial, on a jubilee bracelet ref number 279174. Classic watch. Fits the wife nicely. We tell him we will think about it.

We go back to the hotel. I run some numbers, we talk it over and go back and buy it. No sales tax and getting the VAT back (or most of it) made it a no brainer. She was getting one at some point, anyway. She loves it.

I on the other hand, am sick of the AD dance and I’m probably going to go gray soon, life is too short for their crap.
