Is Honesty Always The Best Policy?

Last November I ordered 2 items of golf clothing from American Golf as part of a Christmas present for my youngest son. A short while later I got a message from EVRi saying that they’d tried to deliver the parcel but, as there was no one in, they had left it in my safe place. Odd, as we were in and expecting it. Also, we haven’t a safe place as the property is high gated and locked on both sides, the front being completely open plan. They did also include a photograph of the agent’s hand, with parcel, over the gate of a bungalow which is not our property.

Long story short, turns out the parcel was only addressed to me, town name and post code. No street, no house number.

After much too-ing and fro-ing between American Golf and EVRi American Golf agreed to send replacement items, which they did.

Four and a half weeks later my Sister-in-Law called me to say someone had posted on a FaceBook group that a lady was trying to trace me as her Mother had found a parcel with my name on it, covered in leaves, down one side of her bungalow which she rarely goes down. And thus I was united with the original parcel.

As I’d already had the replacement I contacted the agent at American Golf who had dealt with the original issue and she advised me that to get the parcel back to them I have 2 options, 1. Arrange a courier at my expense, get a copy of the receipt, send it to them with my bank details and they would manually reimburse me, as they don’t do return labels; or 2. I could take it to my ‘local’ American Golf store.

Option 1 would be pain in the backside and option 2 involves a 4 mile each way journey across town.

Either way, I’m the one being put out when the whole thing was their mistake!

Option 2 it is then – the price of honesty eh?
