Ideas for Year Model Watches for a Collection

Thinking a watch for my birth year 1978, the year I got married 2002, birth of son 2006 and birth of daughter 2008. Ideas of watches from those years as a collection? Bad idea? Kinda just makes sense to me, but others thoughts and watch brands/models from those years? Budget would be around $8k each.
