Actually I do have one selfwinding automatic watch. It's a Timex I got as a present in 7th grade (in 1976). Still runs, though the second hand came off and it gains a couple minutes per day. Ever since, I have owned quartz watches. They have all been very accurate and rugged, run for years on each battery, and maintenance-free.
