Here’s a variation on the “is it a fake” theme. This Seamaster 300 is up for sale on our favorite auction site. The dial is obviously wrong. The bezel, though, looks like a legit 66/67 variant with the flat-serif “1.” I’m no expert, but the caseback looked about right also, with 165.024, “HF,” and “Acier Staybrite” stampings. The cal 550 movement looked legit, although there’s just a glimpse possible of the serial number, which looks like it’s in the 20 million range — 1963 or thereabouts…
