Gold Gruen 9296 with Red LED from 1980

I have my old Gruen red LED gold watch. The case is marked 9296 and it looks like a Cylon's helmet. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this series. I got it for high school graduation and I think is was pretty expensive back 1980. Sadly, the Gruen brand name wore off the red LED window decades ago. I just put in fresh (VERY expensive) batteries and it still works.
