G-Shock GLX-5600 minor refresh

Picked up a faulty GLX-5600 on eBay recently. It was white an well worn but I had a plan. It was described as having a recent battery change and the buttons on the left no longer working.

When I received it I had the strap and caseback off within 10 minutes and to my delight the module wasn’t correctly sitting in the case, meaning that it just needed correctly seated for the buttons on the left to start working again. I put the caseback back on and set about removing the grubby bezel. Underneath the bezel the watch was absolutely disgusting! I binned the bezel and set about the case with soapy water and a tooth brush. It cleaned up well and I was about to put a new bezel on when I realised the the moon/tide function wasn’t working and despite following the manual for the 3151 module, I couldn’t get it to work. Remembering that the seller said the battery had been changed, I popped the back off and carried out the AC reset procedure and the moon/tide function immediately came to life!

I had a bezel and strap from a gw-m5610nv-2 kicking about to I was pleased to see that they both fitted perfectly. Really pleased with how it’s turned out and I think I might now sell the GM-5610BC as I prefer the readability of the positive display over the negative. A few pics of how it now looks….
