Does crystal rotate with bezel on vintage Navitimer/Cosmonaute?

Mine does. I just figured this out today after owning the watch for a couple of years.

Is this correct? Seems strange but then watch companies did a lot of things different 50-60 years ago. My Cosmonaute is from 1967.
