Can you remove rubber strap gap?

Hey guys, i got a rubber strap for my orient mako watch. It looks great when there's no tension fits flush but when there is tension there is a small gap between the watch curved link and the watch itself. Not sure if this is solvable at all or is it just a case of finding a strap specifically made for the watch. Thanks!
