Can we talk a little about strap length?

With my change of orientation to preferring straps over bracelets I am now thinking about strap length.

I recently bought two mass-produced straps, one from ColaReb and the other from Hadley Roma. Both are Standard length but vary in overall length (measured) by no less than 9mm. So, the longer of the two straps yields a fit that looks like this:

I am on the third hole from the end and may end up on the second to last hole once the strap…
