I've been trying to remember who the maker of this wandering hour & minute hand complication is. Usual searches haven't revealed it, frustratingly enough.
Basically, both hour and minute hands are seated on two parallel lines, and will slide up and down the dial as the minutes and hours pass. When they get to the end of the line of travel, the hands will rotate 180 degrees before starting their ascent or descent again down the line.
I tried drawing this quickly from memory, could be off…
