A friend has a sub 5513, which he received for his 21st birthday, he thinks (a long distant memory now!), with the original bracelet.
I saw him last night, and he wasn’t wearing the sub, as he explained to me that the “springbar”, or whatever it is, had failed on his bracelet, as shown on this pic of the bracelet of my Datejust, where I have circled in red, as his actual watch is at his house.
It is the pin to the left, that retains the “folding” part of the bracelet. Apologies if my terminology is amateur!
I understand from him that it has failed, or stuck in at one end of the bar, and he thinks it may be that the internal spring mechanism has either failed, or just become crudded up over time.
It is not the springbar that is used to adjust the wrist size and fit, further along, although perhaps these are the same bars/ pins, in reality.
Please can someone guide me as to whether it is, in fact, just a regular springbar, in which case, could anyone please advise the right size to get from Cousins/ HS Walsh etc?
I appreciate that these may or may not be a standard size, and it will probably be bracelet-model specific, but any help or thoughts/ guidance would be very much appreciated as he is anxious about wearing it out in case it fails and he loses his watch, or damages it from a drop!
