Vintage pair – Ebay JP pickup

Just a quick thread to show a pair of old G’s I won on a Best Offer at £50 for both, which I thought was pretty good for them.

So first is a DW-8800 Codename, which I’ve always found kind of amusing for the little list of “emergency” codes engraved on the caseback. They actually have a lot of features for what is to look at, a normal digital G-Shock. This is a snip of the first page in the manual:

Here’s the watch, from what I can tell, the bezel…

AWG-M500KG-3A incoming

I love me a khaki green G, especially the KG range, of which I already have a G-6900 & GR-7900. The colourway on these KG watches is really nice.

I happened across the AWG-M500 version by accident on eBay a few weeks back, I think I was doing a search for Casio KG and one of these popped up as a suggestion under a listing. I didn’t know about this model having a KG version so a nice surprise.

Of course nearly all in Japan and as usual, on eBay at least, the Japan ones were stupid prices…

Help with a newly won GW-3000B

Apologies if the answer is here somewhere, but I’ve googled and it’s kind of hard to get accurate info.

So I got this one through today from eBay, in really good condition, I just need to put the resin strap set on, (it came with that included, and the original strap rods too), as it has an aftermarket steel bracelet fitted.

Although that is actually a perfect fit, it’s got very small gaps where it fits to the watch and the rods/pins show which is quite annoying to me😂. Also it’s bloomin’…

New DW-5600BBR-1ER ordered👍

I just saw these on G-Shock UK, there were only 14 left so I caught it on time.

I have vague recollections of seeing somewhere recently that said these were UK release only? Feel free to correct me if wrong.

Officially these are known as Black and Bold Red. They look pretty damn nice I must say, and with a 25% Blue Light discount it was definitely worth it!!

Stock photos, I’ll update with live shots when it arrives:

Nice little vintage Casio W-780 back to life🙂

I won this for just over £25 a few days ago, and got it through yesterday. Sold as not working but I was sure it would be ok.

I like these old, all stainless steel Casio’s, they have a bit of character about them.

These have the 549 module, which has dual time and REM like the 901/691’s did in the 5600C’s/5300’s and probably other vintage Casio’s as well.

So with a few photos, here’s the story from yesterday and this morning:

1. Arrival shots, the crystal and case have marks/scratches…

Vintage DW-5900 revival incoming

I’ve been looking for a cheap enough vintage DW-5900 to go for the same restore job as @Deity42 has recently done in his thread here:
5900 crystal clean

I didn’t want to hijack his thread with a restoration of my own, so started this one.

So I just won a Japan T, (module 914), from Spain for just less than €20👍. I wanted a cheap one because then…

DONE: It will soon be time for another mod – Spring/Summer?

Well I haven’t done a nice mod/project for a fair old while, I’ve had something in mind for a long time, and I needed a specific G to do it with. I’ve had other bits and pieces ready to go for as long as I’ve had this particular idea, it the watch itself has been kind of elusive at the right price.

I think I’ve actually spent a bit more than I really wanted, these somehow seem to always be on sale at too much for me, but I spied one last week and thought “what the hell” to myself so spent…

Small pocket watch ID if possible

I bought a little joblot of old watches the other day that were sold as spares/repairs. I only got it for one particular Casio watch case, but there were some decent watches in there anyway.

One of them is this little, (women’s?), pocket watch. It has no brand on either the dial or movement so this might be a bit of a waste of time question, but any info on age, etc, would be nice🙂.

The acrylic crystal has browned with age but is probably replaceable.

The movement is Swiss, and it has a…

USSR Sekonda help please

So I recently received a small joblot of vintage watches, bought because I was after one particular case that was part of it. There were other nice old watches as well though, one of which was a 26 Jewels USSR Sekonda, manual wind.

I know next to nothing about mechanical watches so forgive my lack of knowledge.

It runs pretty well, but I haven’t tested for timekeeping yet. Can you guys look at the photos of the movement and tell me how I can remove it from the case so I can dunk that in…

Casio Overland OAW-100TDJ

Not a G I know, but I thought I’d share this eBay win anyway.

I’ve seen the odd Overland on here before in the G and non G WRUW threads and thought they looked pretty good so decided to look for one.

I was surprised to win this for what I did, bearing in mind it’s titanium, (I know nothing about the Overland models so am unsure whether the OAW-100 has more than one version or if only in titanium?). So it was mine for just under a measly £32👍.

Another reason I went for it is because the…
