Should A Case Diameter Include the Crown?

I ask this because I have watches where the advertised case diameter includes the crown, and others where the advertised diameter is the diameter across the bezel. Case in point is my Rolex OP 41, where the 41mm is actually the measurement from the bezel edge to the crown. But I have a Citizen where the advertised 44mm case diameter is bezel to bezel.

Took Awhile – Rolex OP 41

Yesterday was my lucky day. I was on “The List” for 3 years, but never really checked in with the dealer (local Rolex Boutique).
