Should I work on my Seiko SNK809 myself or no?

So I’ve got an old SNK809. I’ll probably never get rid of it, as it was my entry into the world of automatics and I just kinda like it.

A while back, it took a header onto the locker room floor and got really rattle-y, even more rattle-y than is typical for a watch that normally sounds like a manual coffee grinder. Via the display back, I’ve determined that a loose rotor seems to be the problem.

I’m considering attempting the repair myself. I’m pretty handy after numerous home…

Real-World Experience: Solid Buckles vs. Spring Bar on NATO?

Apologies if this is beating a dead horse (err… shell cordovan strap…see what I did there?), but I’m way down the rabbit hole here on a simple buckle. I’ve seen a few related posts, but no “this happened to me” stories.

My questions are these:

Has anyone ever had any honest, real-world experience with a springbar failing on a NATO buckle resulting in loss?

OR

Has anyone ever been injured/potentially injured a result of a strap/bracelet being caught on another object…

Intro: New Guy Here; Appreciate advice on a BB 36

Hello All. New member, frequent lurker. Thanks to all for contributing to make this site a great resource.

Finally joined because I’m looking to purchase my first “nice” watch and I’d appreciate leads or general buying advice. I’ll also cross- post in WTB as appropriate.
