New (but old) Seiko Acquisition

One V.F.A. Seiko wasn’t enough – when I stumbled upon this example in very good condition, I had to pull the trigger. It is from 1974, and features the 7 jewel 3823 V.F.A. movement (the first Quartz watch to feature analog thermal compensation, and a +/- 5 SPM accuracy), antimagnetic shielding, a very unique hexagonal gold-capped case, and a fantastically textured and legible dial.

Can anyone tell me what this watch is?

I’ve been trying to remember who the maker of this wandering hour & minute hand complication is. Usual searches haven’t revealed it, frustratingly enough.

Basically, both hour and minute hands are seated on two parallel lines, and will slide up and down the dial as the minutes and hours pass. When they get to the end of the line of travel, the hands will rotate 180 degrees before starting their ascent or descent again down the line.

If you could improve one thing about Grand Seiko, what would you change?

I figured this’d make for an interesting discussion. For myself, I’d like to see the reemergence of Day Date 9F83s and applied minute indices models. It’d be nice to see more variety with the 9F series of quartz watches. Cool slab case shapes and dials like the early 4883 Superiors and Grand Quartzes would be awesome to see again in a modern format.
