Any precautions when removing hands with paper dial?

I have a Havaan Tuvali with a paper dial (with enamel outer ring). I really like this watch…except the handset. The dark silver hands get lost with the dark paper background.

I've ordered a set of polished silver hands to swap with. I've never worked with paper dials before. Any precautions I should use when removing the hands? I just have a cheap set of hand levers I've used in the past.
