This unique feature dates back to a brief period in the late 1990s when Rolex transitioned from tritium to Luminova for its luminescent material. This watch is a Swiss Only dial, these dials were produced in a limited run between 1998/1999. Prior to 1998 dials used tritium lume and were signed ‘Swiss – t <25’, in 1998 Rolex introduced Luminova and changed the dial to ‘Swiss’ only. Shortly after Rolex switched to Super Luminova and adjusted the dial to ‘Swiss Made’. The serial begins with Axxxxxx dating this watch correctly to 1999.
Watches produced during this time bear the ‘Swiss Only’ mark on their dials, making them highly sought-after by collectors worldwide.
The watch features a 40mm case, offering a substantial yet comfortable presence on the wrist. Its unidirectional rotatable bezel with a scratch-resistant black insert allows for safe timing of dive sessions or other events.
The dial, in classic black, offers excellent contrast with its white hour markers and Mercedes hands, both filled with luminescent material for optimal legibility under all lighting conditions. Additionally, the date window at 3 o’clock, magnified by Rolex’s signature Cyclops lens, ensures easy reading of the date.

Case: 40 mm stainless steel case which has been polished by our watchmaker back to factory Rolex condition
Bezel: Original black inner bezel in attractive condition with no distracting marks to mention. The stainless other ring is crisp and sharp.
Dial/Hands: Original Rolex ‘Swiss’ only glossy black dial is a stunning condition. Hands are like new as they came from the factory
Caseback: Original stainless steel showing honest signs of previous wear.
Movement: Original Rolex automatic movement which has been serviced by our watchmaker and is currently running a +4 seconds per day.
Bracelet/Strap: Stainless Steel 91550 bracelet which has been polished by our watchmaker back to factory Rolex condition. The bracelet is marked X5 correctly dating this watch to May 1999. The bracelet shows nearly no stretch. The Rolex crown logo on the clasp is sharp. The bracelet will fit an 7.9 inch wrist
Crystal: Sapphire crystal with one mark around the 4-5 o’clock marker.
Accessories: This watch comes watch only. It does not come with the original box or warranty papers.
