Not wishing to be unkind to my Dad, but, they appear to be ‘tat’ to be honest. I feel he was under the impression that they might be worth some money in the future and unfortunate got lured into their subscription plan. I think they sold him one shiny coin at a cheap price and by doing so he unwittingly signed up for the rest of the series at a higher price!
The certificate that comes with the coins suggests that they are 925/1000 silver. Some come with a gold plate over the top and others have a ‘coloured’ picture on one side – one series of 12 of Queen Elizabeth and the other 12 of WW2 fighter planes.
I’ve managed to sell a couple on eBay but it doesn’t seem to worth the trouble.
Is there a better way to try and sell them? Are they the sort of thing I could sell for scrap at the going rate or, as I suspect, the bullion dealers wouldn’t want?
