Worth noting that I was previously an android user – and have been using Apple products for the past 4-5 years. Having switched back to Android, my initial thoughts are as follows:
Switching : switching from Apple to Samsung was a headache – in particular transferring old WhatsApp messages from one phone to the other. i spent a few hours at the Samsung flagship store in Oxford street resolving that.
Screen : both phones have outstanding screens. The Samsung perhaps has the edge based on the anti reflective properties. The difference is quite noticeable in brighter rooms. The Samsung glass is also reportedly tougher. Fortunately I have not tested that as yet!
Speed : the Samsung processor is very fast indeed – noticeably quicker than the Apple – although the Apple is no slouch. i did have issues with the Apple 15 Pro Max screen freezing from time to time. That was a bit annoying – and it was one of the key reasons I jumped ship to Samsung.
Battery life : As a fairly heavy user, I think Samsung has the edge. I think the 16 Pro Max is better than the 15 so perhaps a slightly unfair comparison. Samsung also has faster charging capability
User friendliness : I have become accustomed to the Apple operating system. It has taken a bit of fiddling with the Samsung settings to get my self more comfortable with operation and set it up just it how I want. On balance, I think the Apple has the edge. The Samsung has a more businesslike feel for some reason…
Phone : I find the Samsung better in its basic function as a phone. The sound coming out of it is clearer and I find myself getting reception in locations where the Apple struggled.
Customer service : Apple is brilliant. Fortunately I have not had cause to test the Samsung warranty as yet! That said staff were very helpful in the Samsung store. Worth noting the aftercare warranty excess on the Samsung is £109 vs £79 on the Apple.
Camera : both excellent cameras. Sadly I am not much of a photographer! it seems the Samsung has a better zoom capability. not sure what difference it makes to somebody like me in reality
