How is the quality of work at the US Grand Seiko service center?

Many years ago (like a decade), I read some horror stories on some of the watch forums about the US Grand Seiko service center – mainly the watches being returned with scratches, poor workmanship, and otherwise incompetent, sloppy work. This would be bad on any watch, but it was a disaster on a GS when you are paying for the absolute perfection of the fit and finish (especially for the dial, hands).
