In a bit of a parts organization frenzy at the moment, and my heart turns a bit heavy when I see all the blued steel mainsprings I've managed to accumulate over the years. 20 some-odd years ago, I scored a bunch of them for almost nothing, for american pocketwatches. I thought I was set for life. Of course, I soon discovered that the only thing that was "set" were the mainsprings themselves.
Bad joke. But anyway, long experience has shown blued steel mainsprings to be definitively inferior…
