Due to a slow SC last year many of my watches sold on Ebay. Probably around £30k or so in transactions, all pre owned watches and all at a loss and I was expecting hassle from HMRC but have been advised HMRC only get reports from Ebay if you’ve sold more than 30 items and not based on the total value of sales. So you could sell a Patek Minute Repeater and they’d not be interested – it’s only if you exceed their threshold of 30 items sold in a year.
Will confirm for sure when I do my tax return in April/May but that’s the guidance I was given and I’ve certainly had no Ebay statement come through which folks who have been flagged to HMRC have received.
