OMEGA is once again returning to the world of James Bond, but this time it’s via gaming rather than the big screen. The Swiss watchmaker has unveiled the new Seamaster Diver 300M “007 First Light” Chronograph, a 44 mm special edition tied to the upcoming video game 007 First Light, extending one of the longest-running partnerships in the luxury watch world. The OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M launch is also significant because it represents one of the first major Bond projects of the Amazon MGM era, as the company begins expanding the franchise beyond films into a broader entertainment universe.

How the OMEGA and James Bond Partnership Began

OMEGA’s relationship with Bond dates back to 1995’s GoldenEye, when costume designer Lindy Hemming selected the Seamaster Professional 300M for Pierce Brosnan’s newly modernized Bond. Hemming reportedly believed that a naval commander and British intelligence officer would more realistically wear a OMEGA Seamaster rather than the Rolexes associated with earlier eras of the film franchise. “The choice effectively rebooted the Seamaster itself, transforming the wave-dial dive watch into one of the defining luxury sports watches of the late 1990s and early 2000s,” notes Bob’s Watches Founder and CEO Paul Altieri.

Since then, the Seamaster has appeared in every Bond film, spanning the Brosnan years – Tomorrow Never DiesThe World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day – through the Daniel Craig era, beginning with Casino Royale in 2006. Craig’s Bond helped push the partnership even further into enthusiast culture, with OMEGA producing a growing series of limited and special editions tied to films including SkyfallSpectre, and No Time To Die. Craig himself also became closely involved with the brand, frequently appearing in campaigns and contributing input on the military-inspired titanium Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition created for No Time To Die, our favorite Seamaster ever.

Why 007 First Light Is Different

The new “007 First Light” continues that evolution while shifting the collaboration into interactive entertainment. This is not the first Bond video game appearance though. The franchise has produced official games for decades, most famously 1997’s GoldenEye 007 for Nintendo 64. What makes 007 First Light notable is that it is the first major Bond game developed fully within the new Amazon MGM structure, and one of the first major attempts to build a standalone Bond storyline outside the films themselves. “Rather than attaching the watch to a specific actor or movie, OMEGA is aligning Bond with gaming culture, where younger luxury consumers increasingly encounter aspirational brands,” Altieri points out.

Visually, the watch retains recognizable Diver 300M DNA while adopting a darker, more tactical aesthetic. The black ceramic dial features OMEGA’s signature laser-engraved wave motif, while Bronze Gold PVD accents on the chronograph ring and central seconds hand add warmth against the monochromatic palette. Black ceramic pushers and crown reinforce the stealthier feel. A custom black, gray, and beige striped NATO strap – complete with Grade 5 titanium hardware engraved “007” and “First Light” – leans heavily into Bond iconography. NATO straps have become inseparable from Bond watch mythology ever since Sean Connery famously wore his Rolex Submariner on a striped NATO-style strap in Goldfinger, with the Daniel Craig era later helping popularize the look among a new generation of watch enthusiasts.

Powering the new watch is OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9900, visible through a sapphire caseback featuring a metallized “007 First Light” logo. Looking back at our OMEGA James Bond watch reviews, you’ll notice this is the first ever chronograph produced within the Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond line. Priced at approximately $10,900 at current exchange rates, the watch “demonstrates how OMEGA continues to evolve the Bond partnership nearly three decades after GoldenEye first put a blue Seamaster on the wrist of 007,” Altieri says.

What Could Come Next for Bond’s Watch

Bond fans will also be watching closely to see what lands on 007’s wrist next. The film franchise has remained tied to the Seamaster line, even as the watches evolved dramatically across different eras of Bond. With Denis Villeneuve now directing Bond 26, though no lead actor has been cast yet, speculation has already shifted toward whether OMEGA will continue with another secret agent-worthy Seamaster “special creation” tailored specifically to the film’s tone and aesthetic.
