Summer with a semi dressy watch: is Perlon all there is?

For summer heat and sweat with a semi dressy watch, is Perlon my only option? I like the infinite adjustability of it, but have never loved the way they look. They also aren’t super supple in the way they lay or feel in hand. They just feel kind of cheap.

Ae there any hidden gems out there? Rubberized leather? Unlined canvas with a taper and tight weave? Milanese mesh is ok but I’m more interested in a strap solution. Rubber doesn’t seem appropriate nor am I too keen on the material.
