I have stumbled on this chart.
I found it surprising as I used to have AP, VC, L&S and maybe JLC in the same bracket in terms of craftsmanship, horological significance, finishing and initial value.
I would be grateful for your posts especially those based on reasonably recent past experiences (for all the brands mentioned in the chart).

Hi, this is a bit of a long shot but is there anyone who can repair my Breitling Aerospace Repetition minutes?

I didn’t wear this for a couple of years and the battery run down. Stupidly I thought I could change the battery myself without issue but somehow (even using a press) I’ve managed to damage the corner of the lcd and display also comes up with random characters. Sent it to Breitling but they want a fortune to fix it, replacing the movement, servicing and complete polish.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

I have been meaning to post this thread for a few months. I have a Tudor Pelagos 39mm. These watches are titanium and I hardly ever wear it. I am thinking of selling but keen for some feedback. The watch has only been worn on bracelet or rubber strap no NATO. The issue is the caseback has a number of micro scratches. I remember seeing a while ago a Pelagos 39 for sale on SC and the marks were similar. Any thoughts on this ?

I’m looking for an extra link for a Black Bay GMT 79830 41mm. Would anyone know if all the 41mm BBs with the rivet style bracelet have compatible links please and also anyone know of a reasonably priced outlet in the UK where I might find one? I’m a member of the Big Wrist Club… :0(

The Durrant appeals, although the hands look too short. The Fraser also looks good; it just has a very busy (field) dial on a dive watch.

Would be interested in anyone’s experience of them.

I have just been informed via email from ebay that a watch I had listed for sale (for the past couple of weeks) has been delisted because it’s a counterfeit – or the listing violates their counterfeit policy. This has been determined, so the information states, by AI.

The watch is not a fake (Indeed, in my time watch collecting I’ve never once seen this model faked!), the listing description was clear and honest. There were numerous photos. It was a Seiko 7A28-7040 JDM in case anyone’s interested. Nice watch and I’ve bought and maintained quite a few over the years. Now and again I sell one.

So, after a chat with one of ebay’s agents, I’ve started an appeal. But what can you say to an ebay adjudicator? (rhetorical). I know more about this specific model than anyone at ebay, and probably as much as anyone else outside of Seiko. I’ve stripped and rebuilt a lot of these and know them inside out.

In all my years on ebay I’ve never had such a thing happen. I have 100% feedback too.

I think it’ll be my last listing there whatever they decide. It used to be a reasonable place to buy and sell, but it’s going to the dogs imo (and I thought that even before this current issue).

Following on from Rocket Man’s post, thought it might be interesting to run a poll and see what’s common among us in terms of watch ownership.

Hi all, I’ll be in Florence at the end of this month and want to investigate any used Panerai dealers based there.

I’m hoping to track down an older 40mm Luminor Marina like a 48 or a 50, or a 119, 120, 159, 160 … basically anything in that smaller size made in the early 2000’s.

It might be a hiding to nothing but I thought the birthplace of Panerai might be a good place to look.

I’ll do my research but any recommendations from members who’ve been used Panerai shopping there would be very gratefully received.
