My first Omega!

Hello all, this is also my first post.

I’m a watch enthusiast and I’ve owned quite a few, some new and some vintage. I knew that Omega had a good reputation, so I finally decided to take a chance on one. Is this an original

Hello there. I would be most grateful if anybody could give me some feedback on this particular watch. The case serial number of my timepiece starts with 1xxx xxx. I’m not sure, if this means that it was made at 1897?
2) And is the movement an Omega movement? Did Omega ever not sign pocketwatch movements and not engrave serial…
