Wanted to document my buying experience and product quality for a custom strap I procured with Ted Su Straps.

Was on the hunt for a vintage ammo leather strap for my IWC Spitfire Chrono and came across Ted Su Straps. Read some decent reviews for their Panerai straps, so thought I’d take a chance. Placed an order for a custom ammo leather strap, pilot style, and with rivets.

it’s on a miltat right now … i was wondering if there is anything out there that gives a smoother cleaner integration with the case, such as smaller gaps and better blending to the lugs ?

tried looking around for a while and ended up going with this miltat since it’s pretty close

I stumbled across this amusing guide for how long bracelets should last and thought I’d share.

Well dang, I guess my 1967 Seamaster’s bracelet is due to crumble to pieces any day now..

Seriously though, what is the most mileage you have gotten out of a strap? My coworker has worn the same Timex Safari with a braided leather strap for about 8 years now, and it still looks pretty much brand new. I also have a few vintage straps I regularly wear, though…

Bracelet/Strap Longevity

I have and have had hundreds of straps from all manner of different makers. Without question (IMO, of course) the absolute best of the best is Cordes.

His straps are meticulous. The stitching is always perfect – as is the fit. His stock of leather options is vast and always includes ammo variants.

I have no affiliation other than being a fan and consumer of his work.

He produces straps in a bespoke manner so if you have specifics he’s more than happy & capable to accommodate.

The BEST Handmade straps for Panerai are by Cordes.

I instinctively dislike that this is among the first things they are doing with the tech, but I also wouldn’t necessarily turn down a TRex watch strap if it ends up going that route:

I’ve recently picked up a vintage Omega. It needs a little work and one of the things that needs fixing is the bracelet to clasp join, at some point the last link must have been damaged or lost.

This is the previous owners solution to the problem.

Not ideal.

The bracelet links only have a hole on one side for resizing so I can’t put a spring bar all the way through the last link.

This is the part that is missing.
