Hi, I just bought this (pictured) Seiko 7002-700LR today. It was listed as an “7002-7001J”. Can anyone can answer why that is? Explain it like I’m a three year old, if you would.

Now to the important question. Is it real? In my opinion it seems legit but since I am new to this “hobby”, I wanted your opinion on the matter. Also, any value reference would be gladly received.

I was in a flea market and picked up a Seiko 6138-3000 marked for parts or repair not running. Because there’s no back on the watch, I gave it a few winds and the balance wheel took off, but the second hand didn’t move. So decided to take a chance on it.

First Automatic Watch – Seiko 5 – Question

I am eyeing a diver as my second Seiko. I’ve reviewed a lot of information concerning Divers.. but I want to know what everyone, in hindsight, felt was the best feature of their favorite Seiko diver. Initially, I thought I’d never want a diver, and that a Brightz or Astron was next, but eventually the casual/formal flexibility brought me over to wanting a tuna or a Monster. I am all ears to everyone’s individual bits of insight.

My Seiko Alpinist SPB489J:

Odd observation: Here (above) on my Alpinist, the W and E are perfectly aligned, but when rotated 180 degrees to E and W (left to right), they aren’t. I can’t make sense of this. It may be due to the rotating mechanism and how it maintains water resistance; not a simple translation. Not sure.
