New addition
Continue readingWhat a haul!
I lucked out today, I walked up to a booth where I’ve seen watches in the past, and this guy did have more watches this time. Before I could pick out a couple that I thought I could save he said “I’ll take $45 for all of them.”
17 watches in fair condition, some keepers, some need a bit of work, over all I call that a score!

What brings wrist time close to zero? Close to constant?
Close to constant wrist time: honeymoon phase is long over; I like the on-wrist look okay, but don’t love it; I don’t need to baby the watch…
Modern PVD coating, long term wear?
I am curious, how good is modern pvd technology?
.
Has anyone had experience with modern pvd coating over a few years or so? In particular gold tone PVD.
I hear it is way better than plating tech back in the day, and thin plates of real gold is a lot…
Continue readingFirst Luxury Watch
What was the first watch that you got that you considered to be a true “luxury” watch?
Mine was the Omega Seamaster 007 “No time to die” watch. Purchased naively on a cruise. Was too embarrassed to wear the watch for the first couple months.
Continue readingFarer – ordered the new Durham
The one model I would’ve bought but I missed out on was the Hudson. Ah well, can’t collect them all!
Anyway, this past weekend Farer emailed that their new models were…
This just in! M.A.D.1S
Granted, I never held the other MAD editions, so I can’t speak to how thick they are. But this one doesn’t quite wear as thick as the specs suggest; the domed sapphire adds girth without making you feel it. But it’s obvious from looking at the display that this…
Anybody own a Mido Ocean Star GMT? Need a review…
They’re gorgeous to look at, but I’ve found myself tending to like 40mm-42mm the best.
I know they have a 40mm version, but it has 21mm lugs, which is really off-putting when you’ve accumulated 20 and 22mm straps…
Anyway, I was hoping to get a wrist report about how the 44mm version wears. Does it wear large or small? Is it very thick? Will it work under a dress shirt cuff, or is it…
A Few Firsts with One Stone
I had been eyeing this Seiko SBSC009 for a minute now because I’d been wanting to add a white dial to my collection, and I didn’t already have a GMT. I’d also never bought a watch from overseas, and since my local Seiko AD couldn’t source one for me, off to eBay I went to buy a new watch for the first time too.
So yeah, happy to tick off a few boxes…
My new Lum Tec M90 question
I’m wondering if it means there were actually quite a bit more than 300 made in reality
…different lot numbers, etc…
Thx, Kim
