’73 Bulova Devil Diver ( 666 ) – Valjoux 7730 – Needs USA service

Hi All, My recently-purchased Devil Diver Chrono runs well ( 13 sec / day ) and has a Great Reserve ( 47 hours )

But… shortly after purchase the Chrono Plungers stopped working ( sticking ) leaving the Chrono section of the watch inoperable.

When I first received the watch ALL Chrono functions – Reset to 12:00, Minute dial etc. – worked perfectly.

So, the watch is in need of a service.

I found 2 reputable shops in the UK who BOTH said that because of Customs delays and…

Special Occasion Watch: Cartier Tank Vermeil or Gold-Capped Omega Seamaster?

Hi everyone!
I’m looking to build my collection by adding a nice special occasion watch, for around €1200. Fancy dinners, nice day out, etc.

I’m currently stuck between two goodlooking options:
The Cartier Tank Vermeil (small model)

And the Omega Seamaster 166.010 in gold cap.

While it will take some time and knowledge to find a good example of the Cartier on this budget, I do think it is possible. The Omega is…

Japanese, Swiss, or Italian? YES!

Fellow WIS,

Wanted to share a recent journey that was as unexpected as it was entertaining (and informative), and introduce you to a watch–and perhaps an entire brand–that you’ve never heard of, despite likely owning (or having owned) at least one of its “siblings” at some point.

The story begins, as most honest ones do, with my longstanding disdain for the AP Royal Oak and its even uglier, less inspired 70s brethren, some of which took all of five…

Best pilot chronograph?

Happy New Year everyone!
I know there’s tons of “best diver”, “best GADA” but can’t recall if there’s a thread about pilot chronographs. It’s a very beautiful design if properly executed but I might be wrong but there’s not a whole lot out there. Who’s your candidate?.

1.- IWC pilot chronograph.

2.- Archimede pilot chronograph.

Seeking advice – Is this a Lemania Series III 3 military watch?

I received this watch from my Dad over the weekend, first impression was; swiss, no branding…must be some old clone with a generic movement of some kind. But looking closer and trying the chrono for the first time, this thing had a certain quality to it. The patina certainly looked authentic, this thing has seen some action. My Dad couldn’t really tell me anything about it and he couldn’t remember where he got it, my guess is it’s a thrift store find. Took a few searches but I finally…

Reunited (NWA)

And it feels so good! I actually just sold my blue dial 104 in January. After shipping that one, I knew I had made a mistake.

Image

Looking back I rushed the decision to sell it while in the midst of a transition. I’m still in that transition period as I’ve tried to tighten things up in terms of quality and quantity. In the last few months I’ve sold 6 watches and bought 3. So now, my core collection consists of 9 watches instead of 12.

I always really…

Dang, this is a pretty good homage

Nothing profound on this one, just was really struck by this little Timex. A quick search will yield you one of these bad boys for around $100 and it’s the kind of homage I think most of us can get behind. For the price of dinner you get a reliable wat…
